About the ADC Written Examination
The ADC Written Examination is a two-day, computer-based assessment comprising 280 scenario-based multiple-choice questions across four sections of 70 questions each. Each section has a two-hour time limit. The exam is held twice per year in March and September at Pearson VUE test centres worldwide. The examination fee is AUD 2,122 (2026 — verify at adc.org.au).
The 2026 ADC blueprint places greatest weighting on restorative dentistry (14%), radiology (10%), preventive dentistry and behaviour modification (10%), paediatric dentistry and orthodontics (10%), and periodontics (9%). From March 2026, a pass is valid for five years.
Important: The ADC uses scenario-based vignette questions that test clinical reasoning, not factual recall. This practice exam uses standard multiple-choice questions and is useful for building the knowledge foundation — but candidates should also practise applying that knowledge to clinical scenarios in the ADC format.
