About the INBDE

The Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE) is administered by JCNDE and replaced the NBDE Part I and Part II examinations. It is a two-day written examination that tests integrated clinical reasoning across biomedical and clinical dental sciences simultaneously. The exam uses a Patient Box format where clinical case information is presented alongside multiple-choice questions that require integration of knowledge from multiple disciplines.

The INBDE covers content areas including: clinical sciences (diagnosis, treatment planning, patient management), biomedical sciences (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology), and health promotion and disease prevention. The exam fee is approximately $845 USD as of 2025 — verify current fees with the ADA.

Systematic INBDE preparation with DentistUP

The INBDE tests integrated knowledge across all dental disciplines simultaneously. DentistUP's Deep Study system builds the topic-level knowledge foundation — 29 branches, 263 topics — that makes integrated reasoning possible. Review & Refine closes the gaps, and mock exams test whether that knowledge holds together under exam conditions.
